Education & training

Katrina is a PACFA-registered psychotherapist and counsellor based in Australia, with a background in holistic healing, education, and the corporate world. Her approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and a deep respect for the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit.

Katrina’s path to psychotherapy has been shaped by a diverse and layered career. She began in the high-pressure world of investment banking in London, an experience that left her feeling unfulfilled and disconnected. Guided by an inner call toward more meaningful work, she transitioned into education as a school teacher, and eventually into the realms of yoga, mindfulness, and breathwork. These experiences laid the foundation for her therapeutic work and a deep appreciation for the body as a gateway to healing.

She holds specialist training in Holistic Psychotherapy and Counselling from the Metavision Institute and is certified in Internal Family Systems (IFS) at both Level 1 and Level 2. Her therapeutic work is also informed by Process Work, yoga, meditation, and personal life experience. Katrina has a particular interest in trauma-informed care, with a focus on early childhood trauma and its influence on adult relationships and behavioural patterns.

Professional journey

Katrina also specialises in supporting women and couples through the perinatal period. Her work in this space includes support with fertility challenges, miscarriage, medical and elective terminations, traumatic birth experiences, and the emotional transition into parenthood. Her training as a Reconnected Birthing Practitioner complements her psychotherapeutic approach, allowing her to hold space for complex reproductive experiences with warmth and integrity.

During her time at Highlands Recovery, Katrina supported individuals navigating trauma and addiction recovery. She describes this work as a privilege, deeply inspired by the courage and vulnerability of those committed to their healing. Her role involved fostering a safe, non-judgmental environment and offering practical, embodied tools for recovery and transformation.

Outside of her therapeutic work, Katrina finds nourishment in nature, creativity, and movement. Whether swimming in the ocean, hiking through mountains, or simply spending time outdoors, she draws energy and inspiration from the natural world.
