Education & training

Emma Donlevy is a counsellor and psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience supporting people with complex and diverse needs, particularly those impacted by trauma. Her practice is person-centred, tailored to the unique needs of each individual she works with. Emma has extensive experience in complex mental health, including developmental and attachment-related trauma, complex trauma, and dual diagnosis.

With a deep understanding of the unique trauma and mental health challenges faced by people with disability, Emma works from a neuroaffirming, strengths-based perspective. Her approach differs from traditional talk therapy, integrating a range of evidence-based modalities such as DBT, sand play, art, CBT, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and trauma-informed, brain-based interventions.

Professional journey

Her professional journey began in community-based services, where she supported people living with disability, trauma, and dual diagnosis. Over time, Emma developed a deep specialisation in trauma-informed care, particularly in developmental, attachment-related, and complex trauma. She has continued to expand her expertise through ongoing training in evidence-based modalities, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, sand play, and art therapy.

Emma’s path reflects both her commitment to professional growth and her dedication to providing safe, neuroaffirming, and strengths-based support to every individual she works with.
